Video resumes are changing the face of recruiting

More and more, prospective employees are turning to online video services like YouTube in order to attract the attention of potential employers and placement agencies. A search for "Video Resume" returns 1,400 results on YouTube.

Most of the applicants are young, tech-savvy and ambitious. They range from humorous to professional, and from C-level executives to students. The variety is quickly expanding. These applicants have also been taking advantage of various Web 2.0 technologies that complement their efforts. Facebook, blogs, RSS, social bookmarking and other tools have all been used in order to obtain employment.

HirePatrickNow.com is a web site for a young Toronto man who's looking to expand his professional options. It's a simple letter of introduction that he sends to managers after having submitted his conventional resume to HR. Patrick's approach is simple, innovative and effective. Although still in its infancy, this practice is expected to become more common within the next few years. Experts have said that this could be most significant recruitment trend since the introduction of online Job search sites.

So what happen to his web site??? It seems to be out of business?? However I do agree with your statement. But now it comes down to "Where do I upload my Video Resume" Youtube, Facebook, social sites??? I don't think so. This needs to be secure.... and sites like http://www.mayomann.com or http://www.vault.com make that possible. Mayomann is even a Canadian company. Not bad.

Text resumes will be around for a long time. Because everyone can type.

But everyone cannot write a story or a poem.

So, there will also be a demand for expert / professional resume – writers, for a long time to come.

But an ever-increasing number of recruiters feel that graphical / visual / audio resumes have an edge over plain text resumes – prompting emergence of path-breaking job-portals such as

which inspired me to come-up with my own

( it is easy to be inspired, but , at the age of 77 , difficult to implement ! )

As compared to a jobseeker writing her own resume, a resume written by a professional expert resume-writer would any day prove better.

But

Before sending that well-written resume to a recruiter, can a jobseeker figure-out in advance what would happen if that resume

 gets " rated / ranked / scored " by recruiter ?

 gets compared automatically with resumes of other applicants ?

Will she get an interview-call ?

To know what is likely to happen , she has to just type "Resume Rater" in Google / Yahoo / Bing , and download this software tool ( free and without even login ) from any of the 35+ websites. Then rate her resume.

Resume Rater mimics the " resume-evaluation " process of recruiters’ minds but does it in an unbiased / objective way.
Resume Rater is absolutely non – discriminatory.
