Things that make you go hmmmm....

There's a billboard out there right now that makes me cringe every time I see it. It's an RBC billboard. Unfortunately, I can't tell you what it is promoting because every time I drive by it, all I see is what I can only assume is a receipt of some kind. The receipt (a white strip of paper) is on a white background. I'm assuming there are numbers on it but I can't really read them because the billboard is usually high on a rooftop or high up on some other kind of billboard display. The standard Royal Bank blue arch appears at the bottom with the logo and the "First" tagline. The point of the billboard is completely lost on me. This ad can also be found on bus shelters at street level. However, I don't take the bus so the ad is still lost on me as I drive by. It frustrates me because, aside from being a Royal Bank customer, I'm astounded that the Bank's marketing department would approve a billboard that breaks all the rules for creating smart, simple outdoor advertising. To their credit, I guess that's why they're looking for a new agency.

Brian, while I certainly want RBC's advertising to be noticed, this isn't exactly what I was hoping for.

Nevertheless, I did want to clarify the last point in your blog. RBC is NOT looking for a new advertising agency as your commentary suggests. We are looking for an agency to help us with DM and collateral only.
