Six Pixels of Mitch Joel - Session 3

Our digital space is moving fast, connecting people and ideas in powerful ways.

Mitch Joel took the crowd through what to do when the audience does not care or listen anymore? What to do when consumers are “always on” and their communities are more powerful and influential than any amount of money marketers can throw at them. Individuals have the power to change the world – real power.

Blogs, podcasts, flicker, My Space are not passive mediums. These communities are connections and are conversations, they are genuine. Six Pixels of Separation is about our interconnectedness and how digital channels have accelerated this all on our watch.

Social media is about community, connections, conversations and participation. We rely on individuals and the collective wisdom found within their answers and opinions. We trust each other first. The audience is not just listening anymore, they are creating.

Mitch shared Six Points of Separation for DMC crowd:
• Think in terms of tribes
• Everything is with, not instead of – don’t drop stuff that is already going that works
• Everything is a conversation
• Add value to the conversation – don’t just show up and expect pepole to listen
• Raise the bar
• Passion trumps technology

Lots of bleeding edge ideas and insights from Mitch with radical examples of what is going on and working.

Joel's presentation was great. I think what we need to do as Canadian marketers is to become passionate, motivated and take action on what he is talking about. Take Joel's passion, throw in a dose of Weinberger's lessons and ideas and start creating conversations with customers and prospects. We have a great opportunity, today, to communicate and collaborate with our customers in a more natural and human way. People no longer wish to be spoken at.
