Small Pieces Connected by David Weinberger - Session 4
I had the honour of introducing David Weinberger at the conference on Thursday. David is the co-author of The Clue Train Manifesto, a book that is in my top 3 business books of all time.
His passionate presentation focused on how the walls of control have come down. We need to face our fears of losing control because we no longer have any. He explaned how blogs are ideal conversations because they are not simple, they are complex. Makes a lot of sense if you think about it for a minute.
Complexity is why blogs are so popular. The iterative nature of blog conversations is why we are increasingly attracted to them. He went on say that there is “a 360 bubble all around you in the blogosphere”. So true.
David said “I don’t read the newspaper anymore for news, because it is a day old”. I must say I agree.
His description of how digital has profoundly changed the manner in which we organize everything (read Digg, Delicious, Technorati etc..) is unbelievably insightful.
Mr Weinberger is the Shakespeare of the Internet. If you have not read The Clue Train Manifesto, go get it. It is as relevant today (perhaps even more so) as it was when it was written in 1999. Small Pieces Loosley Joined is a gem too
